POSITION SUMMARY: Provides non-clinical support to children or adults that are necessary to allow clients to live with maximum independence in the community.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in human services field required plus 1 year of experience working with individuals who receive services for treatment of a Mental health disorder or Co-occurring disorder of Substance use disorder, intellectual disability, or physical health disorder or condition. Within 6 months of employment must complete a DBHDID approved training and attend annually a 6 hour continuing education training to further enhance job performance skills. Must have valid driver's license, an automobile to be used in conjunction with work, and current auto insurance.
SKILL SETS: Adequate communication skills, process verbal and written instructions, dependable, interact effectively with the public and staff, adaptability-able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events, strong sense of commitment.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Considerable walking and standing, and participation in activities of daily living. Frequent hearing and talking required to communicate with individuals on social skills, behavior directives and in communication with other support systems and professionals. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, and communicable diseases during contact with individuals in their homes and during activities of daily living activities. Will need ability to stoop, kneel, hold and stand for lengthy periods of time while preforming job duties. Sufficient physical strength is also needed. Must have visual acuity, accurate depth perception, and physical and mental dexterity sufficient to operate automobile while verbally managing individual's behavior.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Works with individuals on skills training, cueing, or supervision as identified in the individual's individualized treatment plan in the following areas:
- Non-clinical but therapeutic behavioral intervention, support, and skills training;
- Assistance in accessing and utilizing community resources;
- Emotional regulation skills;
- Crisis coping skills; and
- Developing and enhancing interpersonal skills
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Adheres to Communicare, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
