POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the provision of CCSU/ACSU services, consumer care and monitoring safety and security of facility, and medical support to the multi-disciplinary treatment team, per designated/assigned shift.


QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years in-patient psychiatric experience. (Can be substituted for education)


SKILL SETS: Communication skills, dependable, consumer service (manages difficult client situations and responds promptly), team player, time management, well organized, work under stress, process verbal and written instructions, ability to problem solve. Possess basic Microsoft Office skills.


PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Visual acuity necessary for appraising the appearance of the facility and the consumers and for updating files and completing an assortment of paperwork. Requires frequent stooping, kneeling and crouching to file records. Hearing and talking necessary to answer phones and talk with employees and other individuals. Work is light with walking, standing and sitting. Manual dexterity is required to perform word processing and other clerical duties. Possible exposure to bloodbourne pathogens, biohazardous waste. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Strength, balance and dexterity required when performing safe physical management techniques.


JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directly assists Crisis Supervisor with Weekend operations. Ensures safe, therapeutic environment of the CCSU/ACSU for each designated shift, including, but not limited to: ensuring completion and of consumer checks every 15 minutes 100 % of the time, staff knowledge and practice of safety drills, and safety/maintenance checks of the facility as well as monitoring supplies and self-administration of medications.
  2. Assist with maintaining proper documentation of clients' medical records, including but not limited to group notes, observation logs, consents, MAR, and other administrative documentation with the aide of chart audit tools and the correction process.
  3. Ensure that the monthly paperwork is completed and submitted to the supervisor for review by the designated established time frame.
  4. Assist with the orientation of new staff to the unit and specifically to assigned shift.
  5. Participates in agency continuing quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  6. Interact with MHTs, nursing staff, therapists, physicians/nurse practitioners, consumer(s), internal agency staff and external agency representatives, to ensure ongoing communication central to program operation and implementation of consumer treatment plan as appropriate.
  7. Provide support and assistance to conduct referral screenings, admissions and discharges.
  8. Assist with the development and implementation of new program ideas to create an involving and progressive therapeutic treatment environment.
  9. Maintains Public Notary Certification.
